Ischyroplectron is a monotypic genus recorded only on the subantarctic Bounty Islands. These islands lack soil and vegetation.

A relatively large and robust species.
Body length: Male:   26 mm. Female: 28 mm.      
Ovipositor: 19 mm.  Antennae: 32 mm.

Fore:  1.5 : 1 = 39mm.
Mid:   1.5 : 1 = 39 mm.
Hind:  2.5 : 1 = 65 mm.
Locality: Bounty Islands. It is not known whether the species occurs on all islands of the archipelago, but is confirmed from Proclamation Island.
Habitat: Under rocks that regularly receive sea spray. Found on dead seabirds at night.
